THE BAND: From being primarily a solo artist in 2016, Benny Mayhem has now evolved into an experience ranging from a 4 piece live band which combines power and harmonies in his unique folk-punk style, Benny Mayhem Solo and their incredible six piece festival show featuring two amazing drummers working side-by-side to recreate their new album.
Musically, they blend the roots of the folk punk genre (bands such as The Pogues, Flogging Molly, Arcade Fire) with an Australian element that has been compared in style to Paul Kelly and other storytellers. There is also no mistaking the Irish influence in his music, a big part of his musical background.
THEIR STORY: Most Benny Mayhem shows support the “Save the Koalas” fundraising program, with donations collected on the night via cash or QR/digital payments. So far, over $40,000 has been raised thanks to the generosity of audiences across Western Australia. Click here to see where you can catch the band or Benny Mayhem solo and donate.
The program began after the Black Summer bushfires (2019–2020), when the band looked for ways to help wildlife in need. They partnered with Rotary to support koalas and other native animals in Victoria, where rescue and rehabilitation services were underfunded.
Funds raised go directly to Waterholes Wildlife Sanctuary in Gippsland, which focuses on rehabilitating injured wildlife and releasing them back into the wild. The sanctuary has since built a 30-koala enclosure and a macropod rehab facility for kangaroos and wallabies.
Come along to a show, enjoy the music, and help support wildlife recovery across Australia.
